The day of the fashion show starts early. Edie and I are ready to go by 10:00am. We arrive to Austin Music Hall where we are sent to the back room/hallway to get ready. Soon we have everything set up and perfectly organized. If any of you have ever worked backstage at a fashion show, you probably know that despite how organized you are, anything and everything can go wrong. Besides many people arriving early and others arriving late and pretty much no one arriving on time everything was going smoothly. Oh, except for the air conditioning. The air in the building was not circulating to us and the sun was beating in the many windows along the back wall. With steamers and many people moving around it felt like a sauna. The staff at AFW kept turning the air down to try to help us out, which made others complain because the rest of the building was freezing. Although it was very hot, Edie, the others assistants, the designers, and I put together 28 unique head wraps before the start of the show at 7:30p.m. This was a really fun and exciting experience.
The Rare Trends moto "Women Should Wear Art" was pronounced in their breathtaking designs. Being that as was backstage (as usual) I was unable to see the show, but reviews from the audience were great! Breaking a little sweat was definitely worth the end result!
